Sunset Wool

This is some pale pink Totem that I've 'reclaimed' from a vest (via Taph), and have successfully dyed with food colouring. The photograph doesn't do the colours justice... it's mainly a deep red orange, with lighter orange tints, apricot, pale pink, and warm yellow.

I was really lazy creative about it - I soaked the wool in white vinegar for nearly a day, then I just dripped undiluted Pillar Box Red and Yellow food colouring directly onto the wool, swished the pot around, then dumped the lot into a glass bowl and microwaved it a couple of times. Voil-la!

  2. Thanks! (now I just need to figure out if I'm very lazy, or very creative, or both LOL!)

Now I just need to figure out what to do with it! I actually have more of the pink vest to unravel, so maybe I should get on with that, and wash and dye the rest of the pink similarly.... and then I'll have enough 8ply to actually make something of decent size! Hmm - would be enough to make a cozy hot-water bottle cover or two, wouldn't it...

  4. Seeing that my Dear Hubby has been very sick with a virus for the past week (ie sick in bed, barely able to move), and he's now sharing it with me (crap crap crap), I may not be well enough to come along on Sunday :( I passed out on the couch last night, and have only just dragged myself out of bed now...
