You know, my Lara top is always going to be called 'The one that used to be Mariah', I just know it ...
I wasn't thrilled by any of the lace patterns I tried, so ended up using this (yo, k2tog) eyelet pattern (from the ubiquitous Pi Shawl) instead.
One sleeve is done, and the second on is on its way, and the front edge has been cast off ...
Now that I've been able to actually try it on I can confirm that :
- It drapes beautifully!
- The sleeves are in the right position!
- It fits!
- I love it! .. and ..
- The front lace border needs to be a fair bit wider.
It looks so good - although I'm sorry you have to unpick the cast off - not fun!!
ReplyDeleteSuccess on the needles! Glad you're happy with your "used to be Mariah" newbie. It will be a joy to wear when it's done, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteLovely pretty and very very warm (and it's cold and bleak today - so I'm into warm!)
ReplyDeleteWhat's a few thousand more stitches when she is going to be so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI don't envy you frogging the cast off but I'm sure it will be worth it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colour too!
Yayyyyy!!! SO pretty! One of those classics you will wear and wear and wear with everything.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you can't crochet a bit on the edges instead of having to pick out all those stitches. It really is pretty.
ReplyDeleteAh, a woman after my own heart! I tried umpty-six different lace edgings for my Lara, too, and ended up going with a simple eyelet thing, too. Less is very much more.
ReplyDeleteFrogging the cast-off will suck mouldy jock-straps, but the end result will be so worth it! Can't wait to see it all done.
Oh it looks fabulous!! I am amazed at the construction!! Good knitting Karma being sent your way!!
