Showing Off

I have quite a few knitting projects to show off - and thought I'd start with these Show-Off Stranded Socks, which I'm knitting for my friend Penny (she of Viennese fame) in exchange for boxes of the scrumptious Heiß Liebe (Hot Love!) raspberry vanilla tea. When it isn't being confiscated by Australian Quarantine. (I wouldn't mind so much if they were at least consistent - we've had one shipment opened and approved by Quarantine, and another one opened, confiscated and destroyed - same tea, same ingredients!)

Anyway - on to the sock. I'm a slow sock knitter. This one is now up to the heel, which is an unusual construction, so I'll need some quiet time to figure it out. I'd better get a wriggle on before winter hits in Austria!

The pattern is Show-Off Stranded Socks, by Anne Campbell.
Wool is Opal Feelings (bought in Vienna by Penny, and not confiscated by Quarantine ;).
Needles are beautiful short Brittany birch needles (a gift from Taph last year).
These aren't colours I would normally knit with, but they're really cheery and lovely, so I'm glad I'm getting the chance!

I've finished so many things of late I only have TWO things on the needles! How did that happen?! This state of affairs clearly cannot be allowed to continue .. stay tuned!

  1. Wonderful cheering colours!
I think if you put those socks on your feet the happiness would have to spread up.

  2. Mmmm, I was eyeing these off when I visited and you're extremely lucky that they're still there. The only reason they are, I might add, is that I would have had to finish them and we both know how I feel about sock knitting!

  8. I have this pattern slated for my next pair of socks. It works so much better in the multi colored yarn. I love the colors of yours. Here is a link where I started the pattern but I really think the pattern does something to multi colored and not solid yarn

  9. Two things on the needles - oh my! You are finishing off a lot of show off stuff. Love love love the socks. Oh so yummy. I could eat them. The colors remind me of one of those giant swirl lollipops. I want a pair! They look so soft and delicate. Of course if I had a pair, I'd wear the heck out of them and they'd get holes in the back and I wouldn't be able to mend them properly. Poop.

  10. Show off indeed! Those socks deserve a pair of purple Birkenstocks and a lime-green skirt for framing.

  14. They are indeed cheery colours! They're a nice contrast to the dreary day we're having today.

The tea sounds delicious, I hope it gets through quarantine this time.

  17. Love the stitch pattern! I went right away to the link to find out how to do that really cool stranded stitch. Time to make something in that pattern--but I'll leave the sock knitting to you pros. ;^)
