Marvellous Mermaids
This is the start of my 'Mermaid Gloves' - the Pomatomus sock pattern turned into gloves. I'll have to figure out how to add the thumb gusset and do the fingers myself, and will post the final pattern here if there's interest...
The yarn is my GORGEOUS Koigu brought to me from Canada by Five Ferns. I . LOVE . IT. The most delightful stuff to knit with.
I'll keep this short - am feeling pretty ill. When I'm really run down, my eyes stop working so well. I've had double vision all day :p Will comment on all your blogs again when normal service has been restored...

they are gorgeous jejune! You are doing fabo work! I am still having trouble picking a yarn a and colour for mine, but really want some Koigu. Ahh too many choices. Hope you are feeling better soon, and not just because you are figuring out the pattern ;) YOU ROCK!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey look superb!! You will be the envy of all women in Canberra. Hope you feel much better soon.
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous! The yarn is lovely (but of course - it's Koigu!!). Hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the best photo of the pomotamus sock pattern! The ones that com with the pattern are not as clear. What pretty gloves they will make.
ReplyDeleteLovely work! Heal fast.
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure to use Koigu to bribe my way into a Canberra SnB meeting. I just hope to do it again sometime.
ReplyDeleteThe thing about Koigu, you really can't let it age too long in your stash....it's best used fresh!!! That and it's really hard to stay away from the stuff.
I've been eagerly awaiting the fate of that gorgeous yarn - excellent choice, theyre looking beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and let me know if you need anything ;-)
I'm sorry to hear you're sick, and hope you're back to your funny, fun-loving self soon. Love the Pomatomus/mermaids. I like how the reddish orange forms its own pattern. Very cool. I made the P-socks. Good luck with those thumbs... Heh-heh. No, seriously. You'll be fine. Just fine. Heh-heh. Don't you worry about a thing...
ReplyDeleteOooh, they're gorgeous. Maybe I could get over my aversion to socks by just converting them all into fingerless gloves or mittens? Their patterns are so intriguing that I often feel disappointed that I decided to give socks a miss : (
ReplyDeleteRest is a VERY good idea. Take care of yourself. I'm hearing reports of v. nasty lurgies hanging around Can'tberra at the moment.
Oh wow. There will definitely be interest!
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous.
Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThose mermaids will be amazing!
The Mermaids are beautiful and the wool looks very under the sea in floaty fronds and dappled sunlight!! Hope you are feeling better soon.....
ReplyDeleteGloves look super!
ReplyDeleteSurely looking at them will be some kind of therapy :) Hope you're feeling better soon.
xx
Is that yet another side effect of FMS? The eyes thing I mean. If so it's one I haven't encountered yet. Thank god.
ReplyDeleteBe well sweety.
Hiya Jejune - noticed your post over on Catsmum's (Susan's) blog - I have FMS and have the same dry eye problem. Also ex Canberra, so there ya go! One optometrist I saw said that dry eyes are just about diagnostic of immune issues/FMS, he reckoned.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely beautiful! Seeing things worked up in greens always makes me feel happy.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon! I too get funny eyes when I get run down and overtired. There's nothing to cure it except to stop everything and rest up.
Wow those are so beautiful Jejune!! :) Hope you're feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! They really are amazing! I can't wait to see them done! (I stole Sandi Rosner's numbers from the gloves in 'Not Just Socks' to make my fingerless mitts--they might help you out too!)
ReplyDeleteFEEL BETTER FEEL BETTER
ReplyDeleteNo, you're not experiencing quadruple vision. I meant to send you double the sentiment ...
And beautiful Mermaid gloves - done "swimmingly"!
Can't wait to see it modeled on hand.
